Why We Are Here
We are here today in nonviolent solidarity with the people of Iraq as well as Palestine to dramatize the effects of occupation on their lives. In an effort to draw attention to the contrast between oppression abroad and consumerism here, students at Depaul and Loyola (Chicago), in conjunction with Voices in the Wilderness, are giving up electricity for up to three days. This means no lights, no computers, no cell phones, no stereos, no refridgerated food, etc. These acts of solidarity are taking place from November 2-11th—from election day to Armistice Day.
For more information please see Life Under Occupation, or contact us at luo at vitw.org
